After hearing this, you’ll be able to easily stop caring what other people think of you. These truths are radically different from anything you’ve heard before.
If caring what other people think about you is stopping you from reaching your true potential, you need to hear this.
I used to be so nervous about what other people thought about me that it stopped me doing anything.
I wouldn’t make videos,
I wouldn’t do live streams.
I wouldn’t do public speaking.
I was too nervous to put myself out there.
And when I was a child I cared so much what people thought of me that I avoided even talking to my friends. When I was in a group of more than two people I just remained silent.
This fear also stopped me from wearing a swimming costume when I was in public, and I would cover my whole body up with long clothes even in hot weather.
And I’ve now reached the stage where I do what I want regardless of what other people
think of me and it’s completely set me free.
And if people do criticize me or my work it just rolls right off me. And it doesn’t affect what I think about myself.
Today I am sharing the exact mindset shifts and the steps that I took to get to the stage where I no longer minded what other people thought of me.
The reason why this works so well is because I’m coming at this from a spiritual point of view.
When you start to look at the bigger picture and go really deep with your thoughts, you realize that the things that you thought mattered simply don’t anymore.
Why Is Caring What Others Think Such A Big Problem?
Caring too much about what people think of you stops you from starting a business, progressing at work, finding love, finding happiness, being happy, even doing exercise, finding your passion, enjoying your passion and being successful in any way.
It can even stop you from sleeping.
It can build up massive resentment towards other people and it stops you liking yourself very much.
Caring what other people think is the biggest thing that stops my clients from living their purpose, and avoiding putting themselves out there.
Why Do We Care What Others Think?
Caring what people think about us is normal and natural, believe it or not.
Relationships give us the most amount of fulfillment in our lives. And to have good relationships we need to care about other people and they need to care about us.
And when we care about each other we naturally care about what each other thinks.
Believe it or not, it really is a good thing to care about what other people think. When it debilitates you and it stops you from being yourself, that’s when it becomes a problem.
How To Stop Minding What People Think Of You
Now I’m going to give you the exact mindset shifts that you need to help you stop minding what other people think about you.
1) Don’t Mind Instead Of Don’t Care
First of all, change your language.
Instead of saying that you “don’t care” what people think, say that you “don’t mind” what other people think.
Telling people that I don’t care what they think can come across as rude, selfish and abrupt.
And the truth is, I care very much about other people. I care very deeply about them, I care all about them and I care about the thoughts that they choose to share with me. And I don’t want to give the impression that I don’t care about them in any way.
So I’m going to get rid of the word care from my vocabulary and instead I’m going to say I don’t mind.
I care, but I don’t mind.
That sounds a lot more gentle and it makes a better point that we care about people but we don’t mind what they think. This is the healthiest mindset to be in.
It means that you will listen to other people’s thoughts about you with a caring attitude but you won’t mind what they say about you.
And if somebody has voiced an opinion about you and it’s revealed something to you that you don’t like about yourself, then by all means change that thing if you want to change it.
But if somebody shares something about you that you are quite happy with, then don’t change it.
Care, but don’t mind that other people think differently to you. They’ve just got a different opinion about you and that’s totally okay. We’ve all got different opinions about everything, that’s what makes life interesting.
And with respect you can tell them “thank you very much for sharing that and I’m very happy with how I am right now.”
2) Your Human Self Was Invented And You Are Perfect
Now we’re starting to get very deep.
Remember that your human self wasn’t invented by your human self. It was invented by God or as I like to call God, The Director.
The Director created you exactly as you are. You’re supposed to be exactly as you are.
You’re supposed to think the thoughts you think and do the actions that you do. You are meant to be an individual. You are meant to shine in your own unique way.
Some people won’t like that and that’s to be expected. But this is who you were created to be.
3) The Consequences Of People Pleasing Are That You Please Nobody
Another thing worth remembering is the consequence of pleasing people.
People pleasers are people who just want to please everybody.
The consequences of trying to please everybody is that you please nobody.
Because person A wants one thing while person B wants something different. Who decides who you go with?
You can promise them both they can have what they want but if they contradict each other or you run out of time to please both people, you’re going to disappoint at least one of them.
But you’re probably going to disappoint both people because you’re not actually committed to what you said you were going to do.
Your heart’s not really in it and people can sense that. So you end up disappointing everybody.
What is the point in trying to please other people and care so much what people think about you if you’re not going to take action on that. Because the action that you take is going to disappoint them anyway. So you may as well just please yourself.
And this doesn’t mean that you are selfish and that you don’t care about other people. It’s that your way of showing that you care about other people pleases yourself.
4) Understand Who You Really Are
A question that’s going to get you to think really deeply is who are you?
Who are you really?
And who is everybody else?
Are they all just really humans or is there something deeper going on?
My belief is that all humans are really the one Universal Mind that I call the Director.
The Director created me, my thoughts and my actions.
The Director also created everybody else, their thoughts, their actions, their words and their conversations with me.
So if I stick true to my own preferences I feel good about that.
And somebody else has a difference of opinion about me and I’m totally fine with that.
Because the director created those thoughts and those actions in that person. So I can’t argue with that.
But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to change myself. That just means that that person is showing a difference of opinion which is to be expected in this world.
5) You Are Strong Enough To Cope With People Not Agreeing With You
Another question worth asking yourself is what are you truly scared of?
- Are you scared that people won’t like you?
- Are you scared that people will say horrible things to you?
- Are you scared that you won’t cope with people not liking you?
- Are you scared that you won’t cope if people say horrible things to you?
Take yourself back to being a child in the school playground. It wouldn’t be the first time that somebody has not liked you and said horrible things to you. That’s why being a child is good preparation for being an adult.
And we forget that as a child we did cope.
Yes, we might have been traumatized by these things, but if we did manage to let the trauma go, we realize that we’re still physically here and we still survived.
We realize that we can move on from this and be who we’re meant to be.
We’ve done it once before and we can do it again.
6) People Will Judge You But Then Forget You
Another thing worth noting is that people will judge you.
It’s human nature to judge other people and they will judge you.
But does that mean that every person you have judged wouldn’t be a friend of yours, that you wouldn’t have any respect for them? No it doesn’t mean that at all.
We can judge other people in a negative way and still really respect them and still want to be around them and still want to be friends with them. But most of the time we don’t share those private thoughts with other people.
So it really doesn’t matter that we’re judging other people. It doesn’t matter that they’re judging us, because their actions are speaking louder than their thoughts.
Also remember that even though you are being judged, you are not the center of that person’s world.
When you’re sitting there and judging other people. You might judge them for one second and then you’ve moved on to something else, and you’re thinking about something else.
You’ve totally forgotten about that person because they’re not the center of your world.
And it’s the same with other people as well. they will move on, they’ll forget about you.
You’re the center of your own world. But you’re not the center of other people’s world.
Find friends who accept you for who you are. Even if they don’t agree with you all the time, at least they can accept you. If you’re confident about who you are then people will accept you and they won’t try and change you as often.
If you’re not confident in who you are, people will try to manipulate you and change you constantly.
7) You Can Change Others Thoughts Of You
And here’s a deep spiritual thought for you.
You can change other people’s thoughts of you.
Most people say accept what you can’t change and move on. You can’t change other people, but remember this is your consciousness and this is your reality.
Other people have a different reality where they are thinking something different and doing something different.
What you see of them is not actually them. That’s just what you see in your reality.
And you can manifest a change in someone else. That’s just what prayer is, it’s just wanting to change somebody else.
You can pray that somebody has a change of heart and this is no different from that.
It’s manifesting that somebody has a change of thought about you.
And you don’t change somebody else’s thoughts with your own actions. You don’t try to persuade them by talking to them.
You change their thoughts with your imagination silently in your own mind.
Imagine yourself getting compliments from other people. I think it’s funny when I look at the comments that I get. Because most of them are thoughts that I’ve already thought about myself.
8) The Real Reason You’re Really Upset About Negative Feedback
Here’s another question for you.
Why are you really getting upset about negative feedback?
The truth is because you believe those comments are true.
The only reason you get really upset about negative feedback is it because there is a grain of truth in it or it’s because it’s a thought that you already thought about yourself in your own mind?
If you change the way you view yourself then you will change the way others view you.
And therefore you won’t get as much negative feedback.
9) Other People’s Thoughts Are None Of Your Business
Have you ever heard of the expression “Mind your own business!”
Other people’s thoughts are private, believe it or not they don’t have to share their thoughts with you. And most of the time they don’t. So caring what other people think inside their private mind is pointless.
You’re only aware of what they choose to say to you, not what they’re actually thinking. And yes sometimes you can tell by their body language what they’re thinking.
But most of this comes from how we feel about them rather than how they feel about us. Or it comes from how we feel about ourselves rather than what they think about us.
So if we’re getting any negative body language and somebody’s being a bit standoffish it’s probably because of a thought about ourselves or them that we thought first. They probably don’t even know why they’re thinking something negative about you.
Have you ever had somebody walk into the room and you just felt a negative presence and you decided you didn’t like them but you just didn’t know why?
The same principle applies here.
If you are giving out negativity people will sense that. And then you’ll see them being closed off or having negative body language for some reason.
10) Your Opinion Of Your Work Is All That Matters
Another thing that really helps is being happy with your own work, with your own creations.
If you’re happy with your own creations nothing else matters.
You’re on your own journey and you have to enjoy the things that you do. You are given preferences for a reason because you’re supposed to enjoy them.
Get pleasure from the journey, not the destination.
If you enjoy creating content, if you enjoy writing a book, if you enjoy your art simply, do it and enjoy the process of it. Don’t do it and worry what other people will think about you.
If you are happy with your own work and somebody else says something negative, then it will just completely brush off you.
The majority of people will sense if you’re happy with your own work. And you’ll be
successful because of that enjoyment because people can feel the enjoyment coming through your work.
11) Negative Or Positive Comments Shouldn’t Define Who You Are
And if you shouldn’t allow yourself to be influenced by negative comments then the same could be said of positive comments.
If you are going to say that other people’s negative comments shouldn’t affect you then you should say the same that other people’s positive comments also shouldn’t affect you.
It shouldn’t influence you to do more of something just because more people are enjoying it. I say do what you love regardless of whether people are enjoying it or not.
Don’t let people’s positive comments give you a sense of pride in yourself.
Be proud of your own work because you like it, not because other people like it.
12) If You Try To Please Everyone You’ll Never Live Your Purpose
If you try to please everyone you’ll never be interesting, unique and you’ll never be living your purpose.
People are attracted to and influenced by people who are totally themselves.
13) Everyone Is Going To Die And None Of This Will Matter
Now here’s a bit of a morbid thought, a thought that most people don’t want to think. But it really helps you to stop minding what other people think about you.
And that is the truth that every human is going to die. Every human will cease to exist.
So if you are worrying about what other people think about you simply see them as disappearing in the future. Because that is exactly what’s going to happen.
Also if you are worried about what other people think about you then see yourself as disappearing in the future.
“Well I’m no longer going to be here in the future so what does it matter I may as well enjoy myself now.”
14) How To Live Your Purpose No Matter What Others Think
Do what you’re compelled to do no matter what other people say.
What you’re compelled to do is your purpose so don’t resist it.
15) If Something You Don’t Like Happens, Just Reverse It
And here’s why you don’t have to worry.
If something happens that you don’t like and you get some negative feedback and you put something out there that you regretted and said something you wished you hadn’t said then don’t worry about it because you can just reverse it.
You can reverse it in your imagination.
Imagine that the opposite happened and then you will see the results of that in the future.
