I was the same myself. I’d heard this principle many times over, and thought I understood it on an intellectual level.
But understanding how something works and really KNOWING it and EXPERIENCING it yourself are two totally different things.
Because when you really KNOW that everything is your mirror, it will be impossible for you to be the same person again or interact with the world in the same way again.
When I truly KNEW this, I suddenly realised that it was true and I was experiencing it, it totally made my head spin. I felt really dizzy and everything felt surreal.
I had no idea how powerful I was and my own abilities to create my reality exactly as I wanted it.

What Does “Everything Is Your Mirror” Mean?
Everything is your mirror means that everything you see in your physical reality is a reflection of your own thoughts and beliefs.
I call this principle, the Thought Reflection Rule because it helps me to remember that it is my thoughts that are reflected out, not just who I am as a person.
Some people say that everything is your mirror means that all of the positive and negative traits that you see in other people are a reflection of those traits that you actually have yourself. And this can be true, but it’s not always the case. And this is not the whole truth about what it actually means to have the whole world be a reflection of you.
The implication of the whole world as your reflection, not only means that you SEE the world as a reflection, it also means that you can CHANGE the whole world, and absolutely everything in it including the people.
Neville Goddard coined the phrase, “Everyone Is You Pushed Out” which means a similar thing. This concept has taken off in popularity, and delving into this concept helped me take the principle of everything is your mirror to a whole new level.
I had believed for a while that our world is a reflection of who we are, but I always thought it was specifically about how we see the world, and not necessarily about being able to change the world.
I had assumed that the concept of “everything is your reflection” was about the way you felt about the world. For example, if you believed that people generally had good intentions, you’d notice people’s good intentions more and you’d be more forgiving of them. And if you believed people had bad intentions that is what you’d notice.
I also believed in the power of prayer or intention, the ability to influence reality based on what I wanted to change. I generally prayed for people to heal, to get jobs, and I prayed good things about myself, but I generally stopped there when it came to the way in which I used the power of prayer.
But I never really thought deeply enough about these two concepts and I didn’t really ever link them together until I heard other people talking about Everyone Is You Pushed Out.
There has been a craze of people using “Everything Is You Pushed Out” to change the way other people think and behave. A lot of people are using this principle to get a specific person to enter into a romantic relationship with them.
When I realised that people were literally changing other people’s actions I really sat up and paid attention.
I am already happily married so that particular use didn’t interest me, but the principle of being able to change someone else so easily had big implications and really got me thinking.
If you really stop and think about it, if you can change someone else’s behaviour just with your thoughts alone, how powerful does this make you?
I’d never really thought about it like that, and of course I needed to put it to the test to find out if this was actually true.
I started setting intentions in my mind about things people were going to say to me, and sure enough, most of them happened very quickly, within just a few days.
It actually worked, I was able to change people’s actions directly with my thoughts.
So what does this mean? How does this work?
What Is The Thought Reflection Rule?
The Thought Reflection Rule means that every thought you think has the potential to be experienced in your physical reality.
Does that mean that every thought you think will be experienced?
No, not all of your thoughts will manifest into reality.
The reason you don’t experience all of your thoughts in reality, is that your beliefs can enhance or block your thoughts from manifesting.
For example, if you have a thought that someone else is going to give you a compliment today, but you have a belief that nobody ever notices you, then your thought will never manifest.
If you have a thought that something bad is going to happen to you but you have a belief that you’re always safe and well, then that thought won’t manifest.
If you have a thought that you are going to win a prize and you have a belief that you are a lucky person and good things always happen to you, then you will receive a prize.
If you have a thought that your partner will probably forget about your birthday, and you have a belief that nobody really cares about you, then that is what will manifest.
So you see that the thought reflection rule is based on your thoughts but also governed by your overriding beliefs.
Can you see how exciting the Thought Reflection Rule is?
If you truly believe that the Thought Reflection Rule works, it means that you are actually the creator of your entire reality.
You can literally create your reality exactly as you choose it to be just with your thoughts.
You can’t physically change your reality by forcing things to change with your physical actions, your thoughts dictate everything.
A way to think about your physical reality is like looking in the mirror.
When you look in your mirror you can’t force your reflection to change it’s expression by physically trying to force your reflection to change. The only way you get to change your expression in the mirror is by changing your own expression. When you change your own expression, your reflection automatically changes. Other people are just a reflection of your own expression.
What Is The Science Behind The Thought Reflection Rule?
The Thought Reflection Rule isn’t something that is purely belief-based. It has actually been proven by science.
When you start delving into quantum physics you’ll realise that the world actually works in very mysterious ways that totally align with a spiritual worldview.
There are many quantum concepts that back up the Thought Reflection Rule, but the main ones are the principle of entanglement, and the observer effect.
The Observer Effect means that physical reality, particles and matter, literally shifts and changes based on the person who is looking at it, and what they believe about it.
Entanglement means that if you decide that 2 particles are linked in any particular way they will always be able to influence and control each other based on what the other particle does, and based on what the observer believes, even if they move to opposite ends of the earth from each other.

Are Other People Real With Free Will?
So let’s take this principle to the next logical conclusion. If you can change other people’s actions just by changing your own thoughts about them, does that mean that other people are even real? Do they even have their own free will? Are you the only person who actually exists in the world? What about everyone else? How does this all work?
I hear what you’re saying. Grasping this principle can be really mind blowing when you really start to understand the magnitude of how this works. I am going to unpick all of these questions one by one so you really understand it all.
If you read the article above about parallel realities that will help you grasp what I’m about to say a lot easier.
Basically, the way the world works is that every person in the world experiences their own reality which they control entirely themselves.
So when you influence or change other people in your reality, you are only changing how you see them in your reality. You are not actually changing them in their reality.
There is another reality where that person has complete control over everything, including you.
You are only aware of the reality that you are in currently, so if someone is controlling you in another reality, you would never know about it.
Because all humans were created from one infinite intelligence, that a lot of people refer to as God, that means that we are all one, we are all part of the same God.
Because we are all one, that means that we all interact with each other. Your actions in your reality will be experienced by everyone else who comes into contact with you in their own reality, as long as they haven’t blocked your actions with a contradictory belief system.
That means that all people in the world have their own consciousness, their own personalities, and their actions and beliefs will be experienced by you, as long as you haven’t changed how you see them with your own thoughts.
So if you believe someone treats you badly, their behaviour in your reality will be treating you badly. In their own reality, they are acting according to their own beliefs which might not necessarily be the same as what you are seeing.
Whatever you believe about someone will cause them to act in that particular way in your own reality.
Are You Saying That I Created All Of The Bad Things I See?
The answer to this is a little complicated, and it is a yes and a no.
Yes you created all of the bad things that you see with your general assumptions about the world.
If you assume you will see bad things in the world then yes you have created bad things in the world to see.
But did you specifically create all of the individual acts of horror that come into your awareness?
No, you didn’t create the specifics of the “evil” acts that you see in the world. Your own creativity probably couldn’t have dreamt up those specifics even if you wanted to. It just means that someone else came up with the specifics in their reality, and that because you believe generally in bad things in the world, it means that those specifically bad acts that you are aware of have now come into your own reality.
Am I Responsible For All Of The Bad Things I See?
Despite what other people will tell you, that you are responsible for the bad things because you created them, again it’s not so black and white as that.
First of all, you came into this world to be molded and shaped by it. As a child you were impressionable and literally in a state of being brainwashed.
That means that you were given all of your belief systems. You didn’t choose them.
Yes you can choose your belief systems as an adult, but in reality, you can’t really even do that because your life plays out on autopilot based on your beliefs.
You do have some conscious thought however, but if you literally have not come across the Thought Reflection Rule before then you will just keep on creating your reality based on your existing belief system.
That means you are not responsible for all of the bad things that you see, because you are acting on autopilot most of the time.
However, now that you are aware that your thoughts create reality, you are well on your way to being able to change your reality, and therefore are now responsible.
As long as you can remember about this rule in the future, you will stay responsible.
If you forget about this rule, you are running on autopilot again and will cease to be responsible.
What Are The Benefits Of Seeing Everything As Your Mirror?
At this point, if you’ve never really thought deeply about the concept that everything is your mirror before, you might be feeling a little freaked out.
Perhaps you are thinking about all of the bad things in the world and feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders?
I’m going to lighten your load now and share some of the benefits of the Thought Reflection Rule with you.
Now that you understand that you create your reality, what are the benefits of this?
- You literally get to decide what happens in your reality. You can get anything you want. You can get the relationship, the wealth, the friends, the fun, the work of your dreams, the great health, everything is yours for the taking.
- You get to decide your own worth in the world. Now that you know that you can get to be as successful as you like, and you know that your actions can make a difference on other people, you can decide what work you want to do and how much of an impact it has on other people. This is how you experience fulfillment.
- You get to decide how you feel in the world. What do you want to believe to be true about yourself? What kind of person do you want to be? What rules do you want to set for yourself and for the world? How does everything interact with you in your world?
Don’t limit yourself to just manifesting the relationship you want, or the money you want. Really think deeply about this.
If it is true that you can have exactly what you want, why would you stop at just one thing?
How exciting is the adventure that lies before you?
Common Mistakes With The Thought Reflection Rule?
As exciting as this realisation is, that you can control your whole world, there are mistakes that I see people making with this rule that don’t serve them. Here are some of the most common mistakes I see people making.
1) Feeling Like They Are Manipulating Other People
Some people won’t even entertain the notion that they control their whole world as they don’t want to manipulate or control others. Just remember that you are not controlling someone else, you are only controlling what you see – your own eyes, your own ears, your own sensations.
Science has also proven that this world is a simulation, and what we think is solid and physical is actually just energy and projections.
So you are not actually touching your phone, you just feel the sensations of touching your phone. It’s the same with other people. It’s all a simulation based on your own thoughts.
2) Putting The Emphasis On Others Rather Than Yourself
Some people get so obsessed with trying to change other people that they base their entire world around another person.
If you are spending most of your time and energy changing someone’s behaviour, getting them to text you, compliment you, buy you gifts etc. then you are definitely missing the point.
Yes it’s fun to do some experiments to see if this actually works, but at that point it’s time to move on to something deeper.
Remember this world is a projection of YOU. You are not living your life for one other person. If you set some overriding rules for your own life and your relationships, you’ll get the life you want without having to micromanage someone else all of the time.
If you simply decide that you are always happy in a relationship with your specific person, you can let go of all of the small details.
Everything will work out for the best no matter what happens. Besides, it’s boring to decide the specifics of everything in your life. That brings me to my next point.
3. Getting Bored With Controlling Everything
If you spend too much time micromanaging everything and everyone in your reality, it can definitely get boring.
Who really wants a life where everything goes exactly as you imagined all of the time?
To me, the fun of life is not knowing what is going to happen next.
That’s why I suggest setting some general rules for yourself about how life gets to be for you, but not dictating every small thing every moment of every day.
You can drive yourself insane trying to control everything, and we are not here to micromanage our existence.
How To Interact With The World Using The Thought Reflection Rule?
Now that you know that your thoughts influence your entire reality, how do you now interact with the world? How should you act based on this new power that you’ve realised?
What I suggest you do is take some time to journal the things that you actually want.
Make some lists of things that you want to have, do, and who you want to be. If you want more details about how to do that, click the link below.
When you decide what you want in advance, it makes it so much easier to interact with the world as you’ve really taken some time to decide how you want things to look for you.
If this is the first time you’ve come across this principle and really thought about it, don’t start making major changes straight away.
It can really help to just start by observing the world as it is right now and your reaction towards it.
Just noticing your existing thoughts can help you feel much more in control.
When you are in a pattern of noticing your thoughts a lot more, then you can start to do some experiments by seeing what you can change with your thoughts alone.
How To Put The Thought Reflection Rule To The Test?
A good way to put this The Thought Reflection Rule to the test in a very easy and light herded way is to decide that someone is going to say something very specific to you.
For example, you could decide that someone is going to refer to you in a particular way that has come directly from your memory.
For example, you could imagine that someone is going to say to you something like “You’re a very valuable member of the human race.”, or “You are such a good role model.”
Try and decide on a comment that would be natural for someone to say to you, it wouldn’t sound weird if someone said it, but at the same time it is unusual enough that nobody has ever said those exact words to you before.
Now I want you to imagine that someone is saying that phrase to you. Hear it in your mind. See the person standing before you. Feel how you are going to feel when you hear it.
You will hear your phrase, as long as you can remember it, so make sure it is something that you still remember tomorrow and next week.
